Question by broken: Does e-commerce hurt the “real” economy?
I used to lean towards that, but then I started seeing “Ebay” stores pop up. I’m not sure what they do, but my guess is they manage customer’s auctions and/or surf Ebay for what their customers ask for. Probably ship stuff, too. All a very valuable service.
And then there’s the fact that online retailers seem to make it easier to sell products to consumers, which can really benefit the people that make the products. Stores haven’t seemed to shutter en-mass all because of e-commerce’s popularity.

E-commerce stores increase efficiency.
Increasing efficiency is good for the economy in the long run. Of course it can be bad for some individuals in the short term, but for the overall economic good of a nation increased efficiency is better.
