What You Must Know About Selling on eBay!
At one time or another Just about everyone I know has bought
something on eBay. More than 100 million items for sale--From
a 99-cent fruitcake recipe to a $2.35 million Ferrari--eBay is
the king of online auctions. Undoubtedly, eBay is one of the
biggest online auction markets in the world. In every given
moment thousands and thousands of transactions are happening.
With the number of sales that are happening everyday, you can
sell almost every thing on eBay – people often sell items that
have absolutely no real value for a high price. However there
are certain limits, for example eBay does not allow certain
commodities to be auctioned through the website. Similarly the
sale of items which are considered illegal in the case of
offline trading, eBay also restricts such trading from its
website such as satellite descramblers are forbidden as well.
To restrict copyright violations, copyrighted CD’s, DVD’s, or
soft wares- may not be sold through eBay auctions. On the
other hand the CD’s DVD’s or soft wares that you have bought
legitimately are allowed to sell as long as you are not
selling a copy that you made of these types of items.
EBay also forbids the sale of ‘replicas.’ A replica is a
copycat version of designer items, such as purses, dresses,
shoes, or sunglasses that look identical to those that have
designer labels. Government regulated items like alcoholic
beverages, weapons and firearms, tobacco products and both
prescription and illegal drugs are forbidden as well.
However there are some exceptions to this rule i.e., If you
have a tin that contains tobacco, you may sell on eBay if the
package has never been opened, and if you state that the
contents of the tin are not meant for consumption. Selling of
such types of collectables requires some conditions that must
be met.
Any type or breed of Livestock (animal or reptile) may not be
auctioned through an eBay. That also includes dead/stuffed
animals as well. This rule may also apply to items, which are
taken from different endangered species, such as Ivory, skins
etc.
Tickets may be sold, but it is illegal to sell tickets for a
higher price than face value of the tickets. This Phenomenon
is called ticket scalping, and it is illegal. Lottery and
raffle tickets are banned from eBay auctions. If you are
unsure if your item is eligible for an eBay auction, don’t
place it for auction, and contact eBay to get his opinion.
Remember these things and always be sure to implement them.
It’s time to turn your stuff into cash on eBay. With the
number of transactions that are happening everyday, its time
to jump in to the bandwagon and start your online business.
You might be one of those who found themselves getting more
from eBay rather than their regular jobs.
