Selling expensive items on eBay is as easy as going through a few steps. It does not matter at all that what you are selling, it all depends how the individual seller lists that item. You don’t have to Surf on the Internet placing ads or to use any other promotional tools. When you choose eBay to sell, the marketing is all done buy the eBay. eBay auctions mean you already have selected an automated marketing campaign, which will not only strengthen your brand but also attract new bidders. The great thing about eBay is that you have lots of options to help you sell better.

Before putting your item to eBay auction, you must determine the value of your item. There are three different ways to determine this. First, Determine the market price of your product. Next determine the price of similar products auctioned in the past at e bay i.e., Browse similar auctions. Then, Determine your reserve price (the lowest price that you are willing to accept for your item).

After setting your reserve price, set the opening bid at the lowest price you would be willing to sell the item for– no matter how high your reserve price is. It’s a marketing tactic because it will be very hard to attract potential buyers to an auction of hundreds or thousands of dollars. Inviting them to an auction with the opening bid only $50 is quite simple. Remember, It does not mean at all that your are going to sell your items lower then your reserve price – unless you choose to do so at the close of the auction. This tactic of price setting is usually used in different businesses to get the prospects (potential customers) at your doorstep. It’s a common practice because it works.

Work hard on the description of your item by maximizing your item title. Include as many descriptive attributes as you can about your item as buyers will search for such as, warranty, condition, authentication, history, and retail value. The more information you provide, the more potential buyers are to place a bid. Use as many details as possible, including details that prove the authenticity of item. Include pictures of the item are very important as a picture is worth a thousand words! Some close-up pictures show the prospective buyer what they want to see.

We should not try to deceive our potential buyers! If the item has any marks or scratches, be sure to list any flaws. Don’t try to camouflage them. State how the item will be shipped and make it clear that you’re going to add shipping into the price, there’s a section on eBay where you set the shipping. A reasonable amount for your materials and effort is fine, but buyers don’t want to pay $20.00 for shipping and handling and then see on the package postage label that it only cost you $5.00 for shipping.

Make sure the potential buyer is clear that shipping insurance may also be purchased.

eBay has also partnered with an escrow service that is commonly used for high-ticket items. Most eBay buyers feel more comfortable using an escrow service for higher priced items. You can make this as an opinion in the sale offer, with the understanding that the buyer must pay for the service. This acts as a protection against the fraud for both of the parties, and also makes most of the buyers more confident to spending the money to obtain the item.
